Yesterday, 27 July, Eskom announced a load reduction in areas prone to illegal connections. The affected areas included Soweto and Vaal. The sub areas affected included Bram Fischerville, Dobsonville, Dobsonville Garden, Doornkop, Dube, Emdeni, Jabulani, Mmesi Park, Mofolo North, Moletsane, Naledi, Tladi, Zola, and Zondi in the Soweto area.

In the Vaal, De Deur/Walkerville Lakeside Estate, Lakeside, Golden Garden, Johandeo AH, Sebokeng Zones 10-14 as well as 16, 17 and 19 were affected.

Eskom urged customers to avoid damage to electrical appliances from power surges when the electricity supply was restored by turning off household appliances.

Eskom has also announced the resignation of the Non-executive Director, Sifiso Dabengwa, who resigned on 23 July, 2020.
